This relaxed fisherman's paradise also offers ski-boating, birding and bush trails plus the opportunity to drive 4x4 vehicles along a 40km stretch of beach - once permission has been granted by the local authority. There s a colourful history surrounding the town's founder - British adventurer John Dunn - who became diplomatic advisor to King Cetshwayo after the Zulu Civil War of 1856, and subsequently took 49 Zulu wives in addition to his British-born spouse.
