Colesberg is virtually half way on the min road between Johannesburg and Cape Town. It was founded in 1829 and named after Governor Sir G Lowry Cole and was the home of several of the leading Voortrekkers of the 1930's.
The oldest Reformed Church building still in use.

Methodist Society built its first chapel in Church Street. The new Trinity Methodist Church, in Durban Rd, was built in 1882.
